- reviews =
  • Iron Man (2008): Excellent character development, completely flagrant and delicious CGI armor porn of the first Stark armor. Relatively banal villain…but nothing’s perfect. (8/10)
  • The Incredible Hulk (2008): A film I’ve seen only once. Not very memorable. The reason why we won’t see any standalone Hulk films again, but it did establish a good inter-studio relationship with characters that form up in later MCU films. (5/10)
  • Iron Man 2 (2010): A more believable villain. Improved motivations that show how Tony really isn’t always as in control as he thinks he is. More armor porn: The suitcase suit was gorgeous. Great introduction to Black Widow that I can watch over and over. Decent climax and ending. The best of the three Iron Man films. (9/10).
  • Thor (2011): The weakest of the character standalone film series, but Chris Helmsworth takes a rather unbelievable comic character and sells it. Tom Hiddleston is awesome every-time you see him, here and in future films. I liked Darcy more as a character than Jane Foster—a romance that seemed as weak as her Padme in Star Wars. Enjoyable enough. (7/10)
  • Captain America: The First Avenger (2011): Strongest of all the character standalone series, both as character and film. I've only watched the inaugural Doctor Strange film more often than this. Steve Rogers epitomizes all that is heroic and good. Excellent co-stars (Hugo “Agent Smith” Weaving has the right ham and his Red Skull was no fool, nearly winning, and confident, beautiful and powerful Hayley Atwell…swoon). Simple plot, yes. But it begins the establishment of the Infinity War story arc. And I was right about the Red Skull’s fate—he was teleported. (9/10)
  • The Avengers (2012): Holy shit. Over 8 years after it was released, it still has legs. The standard of all team-up films for some time. (10/10)
  • Iron Man 3 (2013): The worst of the MCU films, which is saying a lot. I just bought a copy just to have completed my MCU film library. We’re not talking Batman v Superman suck, however. Nor am I criticizing Robert Downey Jr.’s always excellent acting. But motivations were off, the villains were cookie-cutter, and the taking over of War Machine’s suit made no sense. Most senseless—if Tony could’ve gotten the shrapnel out of his heart before, why did he decide to do it now? Contrived and the one film I can tell anyone to skip. (3/10)
  • Thor: The Dark World (2013): Also not one of my favorites yet not the worst. We didn’t need Jane Foster here—anyone else would’ve worked. Another fine performance by Helmsworth and Hiddleston. A necessary film for setting up Infinity War. (5/10)
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014): This film is where the MCU steps on the gas, careens you into some turnpike and takes it time calling you an ambulance for your shattered mind. Not until Infinity War will you get a “wham” like what this film delivered. The second strongest film in the entire MCU, and establishes Cap’s impeccable character further. (9/10)
  • Guardians of the Galaxy (2014): A lighthearted break from Earth’s troubles. As not a normal comic book reader, I was pleasantly caught off-guard by this motley crew and grew to love them fast. It must’ve been the music—I grew up with the same tunes as Star-Lord. BEST Blu-Ray/DVD menu selection song ever: Blue Suede’s version of “Hooked on a Feeling.” A necessary film for the Infinity War arc and the funniest of the films to that point. (8/10)
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015): It’s hard to trump the first film for the team but it tries admirably. Beautiful early character development that shows the Avengers have grown into a family as well as a team. Would’ve loved to keep Quicksilver, however. Finally, Hawkeye gets some great characterization and was fun to watch. Ultron wasn’t easily stymied. While the film wasn’t the best, it establishes Tony’s serious character flaws of “Nice job breaking it, hero” that come to a head in Civil War. Important Infinity War tie-in with the introduction of the Mind Stone and its wielder. (8/10)
  • Ant-Man (2015): Another film I went into blindly with no comic-book knowledge. Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang was almost as virtuous as Cap but not as fettered with his rogueish ways. Evangeline Lilly is dreamy yet powerful. The CGI they did for Michael Douglas in the flashback was incredible, and his Hank Pym was a likable competitor to the Starks. Suitably crazy villain and a creative way to counteract a hostile takeover. Funniest film in my list to that date, slightly eclipsing Guardians 1. (8/10)
  • Captain America: Civil War (2016): The next films from this point on have few to no weaknesses, starting with this one. Where Winter Soldier sent us on a car crash, the characterizations of law versus righteousness are personified in the conflict of Tony and Steve. The family falls apart, setting up an indirect flaw that will be exploited in Infinity War. Soul-crushing conclusion to Steve and Peggy. Black Panther’s entry is great, as is Spider-Man’s, and Zemo was a perfect a villain (who wins) as Thanos will later do. This film effectively was Avengers 2.5. (10/10)
  • Doctor Strange (2016): Like Thor, I was skeptical on how they would define the mystic arts in a more realistic world as the MCU. They succeeded in avoiding occult elements to form a cohesive rational application of dimensional energies. Benedict Cumberbatch sells it well. I love watching the otherwise underused Rachel McAdams’ Christine being terrified out of her wits. Tilda Swinton’s Ancient One was a great way to derail the traditional bearded old guy image. Our villain’s motivations were believable enough to drive the story. The climax demonstrated Strange’s most impressive way to stop a villain and undo massive damage to Hong Kong. Important Infinity War tie-in. I’ve watched this film all too often. (9/10)
  • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017): Another pleasant and humorous diversion. You don’t need to see this film at all for any MCU story arc but stick around for the furthering of the characterizations, the introduction of Mantis, and a good way to show off how cool Yondu really was. (7/10)
  • Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017): A Sony film that now enjoys some Disney-owned stars such as RDJ to move things along. Many have said this and I agree: It was like a John Hughes 1980s teen film with superheroics. Tom Holland nails Peter Parker better than any other. Very strong villain and motivations with a certain honor. Great humor. Sony was certainly happy to benefit from associating with the MCU. (8.5/10)
  • Thor: Ragnorok (2017): The funniest of the MCU films and a great improvement over all the previous Thor films. This was a Thor that was officially done with Loki’s crap, but also learned to be a little less serious about it all. The “Doctor Strange Comedy Minute” as he trolls two Asgardians is watchable over and over (It was set a year after Strange’s first film and he has learned considerably more by then). Enjoyable character, the Valkyrie, but seeing the Hulk speak and think was best. Loki begins his redemption, despite himself. Cate Blanchett shows great ham as well as why her Lord of the Rings Galadriel would’ve won the War of the Ring if she had taken the Ring from Frodo. Essential indirect setup for Infinity War. (9/10)
  • Black Panther (2018): Another film with a surprising impact. I think this film created such an impact that school classes were bused en masse to see it. No one at Disney expected this film to make more than The Avengers but no matter. Characters, the world of Wakanda, the backstory, the villain—no MCU film had a better balance of all elements. Essential indirect film for setting up locales for Infinity War. (9/10)
  • Avengers: Infinity War (2018): If there were a cliffhanger film that could be compared to The Empire Strikes Back, it’s this one. The star of this show is not the still-broken Avengers, but Thanos himself, a sympathetic paladin that only sees what’s best at a literally universal level yet still feels remorse, regret but firm conviction. Every major character has a part to play, and the film helps avoid minimizing character involvement by using an old Star Wars trick: Separate chapters for groups of characters. Now we know why Loki was sent to New York in The Avengers by Thanos—attempting to get a third Infinity Stone (from Doctor Strange’s teachers) using two others. Ebony Maw was absolutely wicked. My guess was right that Doctor Strange would be the mastermind in formulating one chance to succeed, although he’s playing it like chess, and we haven’t seen all the moves yet save in protecting the one piece necessary on the board for victory: Tony Stark. And what a difference a year or so of mystic art study did. If the good Doctor knew what he showed in this film in his starting movie, we would’ve had a 5 minute short. Watching people in the theater who apparently knew of the comic-book version of the story showed them pleasantly satisfied but also very curious where they’d go next—the heroes in the comic’s resolution aren’t in this MCU rendition. Those who expected the Avengers to be victorious left like they were leaving a funeral. Cannot wait until we know more about Captain Marvel before we wrap things up in the untitled Avengers 4. Crushing. (10/10)
  • Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018): After the soul-stomping we got from Infinity War, you would think that the second Ant-Man film would be anticlimactic. Despite the ominous fate that could befall the world, the film meets much of the levity we enjoyed in the first, and gives Hank and his daughter a wonderful reunion. Michael Pena’s a treasure, and the story line keeps you entertained, although lacking of any new calamity until the very end. Scott’s cleverness will be put to the test next time we see him. (8/10)
  • Captain Marvel (2019): A fun retrograde adventure on Carol Danvers. Gives some critical flashbacks on the Space Stone’s deposition with SHIELD, Nick Fury’s start, and Pegasus. While not a super-crucial film to see before Endgame, one should watch it. (7.5/10)
  • Avengers: Endgame (2019)I can’t even begin to explain this film’s excellence and magnitude. And I won’t here–the film’s still in theaters. It had virtually everything I hoped to happen, especially the very end. (11/10)

Iron man: brilliant movie, started the MCU 8/10

Incredible Hulk: fun watch, nothing special, average movie 5/10

Iron man 2: fun movie, great comedy and it has Scarlett Johansson 6/10 better than average

Thor: same as hulk, fine watch and an average movie. Loki and Anthony Hopkins carry this, Chris Hemsworth is still finding his groove 5/10

Captain America the first avenger: brilliant, underrated gem of the MCU, Chris Evans is incredible but red skull could have been better developed 7/10

The avengers: one of the greatest superhero movies and a masterpiece of a movie, the build up was something never seen before in movies, will go down as an all time great 10/10

Iron man 3: fun I guess, definitely rewatchable like all MCU movies and a movie with Robert downer JR as the lead will never be bad 5/10 mandarin twist should have been better

Thor the dark world: only ever watched this once tbh, it's alright I guess, it has Loki so there's that, still not terrible just below average 4/10

The winter soldier: one of the best MCU movies, Chris evans is fantastic, awesome villains and it has Scarlett Johansson. 10/10

Guardians of the galaxy: surprisingly brilliant movie, will be a cult classic. I am Groot 9/10

Avengers age of Ultron: decent watch, cast does great as always and the action is very good 7/10

Ant Man: yeah it's fun, Paul Rudd is the lead so it can't be bad and the final battle was very good 5/10

Civil war: fuck, people are gonna disagree with me here but this isn't a great movie, in fact it's the worst of the cap trilogy, cap is an asshole who puts his own freedom over the lives of others and goes against 117 countries, iron man was nerfed like crazy just so cap could win and the airport scene should have been much better 5/10 average. Good job this movie introduced Spider-Man and black panther

Doctor strange: awesome movie, better than average and Benedict cumberbatch is always a win, and it's more iron man, can't complain about that. 6/10

Spider-Man homecoming: best Spider-Man movie portrayal without a shadow of a doubt, tobey and Andrew don't hold a candle and the movie had an awesome villains, action could have been better but Tom and Robert's chemistry makes up for it 8/10

Gotg vol 2: meh, it's fine, a good rewatch and the characters are awesome and there were some great jokes but that's about it 5.5/10

Thor Ragnarok: one of the MCU's best, 2nd best solo MCU movie for me, hilarious, great action, visually stunning, Chris Hemsworth, what's not to love? 9.5/10

Black panther: another awesome movie, fantastic villain, a protagonist that's really likeable, Chadwick Birdman kills it, CGI was dreadful but still an awesome movie 8/10

Avengers Infinity war: masterpiece, no two ways about it this is one of the best movies ever made 10/10

Ant Man and the wasp: meh, it's fine I guess, not much to say about this one 5/10

Captain marvel: same as Thor, but the character is female and replace Loki with nick fury 5/10

Avengers endgame: best movie ever made, it's awesome, its funny, it's epic and it's heartbreaking. No movie studio could ever even dream of replicating the feeling when all the heroes came out of the portal, wish I could go over 10 but I cant. It's easily a 10/10

https://www.quora.com/What-is-your-review-of-the-MCU-movie-by-movie/answer/Sharon-Thornton-39

Iron Man- 8/10 Iron Man is a very good film and is in my top ten favorite Marvel movies. RDJ’s acting is superb and the story is gripping and uplifting. It is amazing for being the first film in the MCU. It’s one of the more inappropriate MCU films which is part of the reason it isn’t 10/10. The other reason is that it’s a bit dark for my taste and just doesn’t feel special because so many movies copied it.

The Incredible Hulk- 4/10 This movie is the embodiment of the word “eh” it’s not terrible but it certainly isn’t good. The acting is okay, the cgi isn’t bad for 2008, and the plot is dense, even so I’m glad I watched it because it gave Bruce Banner a background that he doesn’t really get anywhere else in the MCU. I would suggest watching it if you want to be a MCU fan but not if you’re a casual viewer.

Iron Man 2– 6/10 It just wasn’t that memorable, there weren’t super memorable stakes, and quite a bit of the humor didn’t really click. It’s fun to watch if you’re looking for some classic Tony screen time but it’s certainly not iconic.

Thor- 8/10 I really love this movie but I suspect that part of this is my love for Loki and Tom Hiddleston’s acting. Thor is funny, exciting, and inspiring. I thought that it was adapted from the comics quite well while still keeping its originality and a bit of realisticness. Plus I think that the humor in Thor is really well done.

Captain America: The First Avenger- 10/10 CA:TFA is the ultimate superhero origin story. There is nothing about it that I dislike. Skinny Steve and his inspiring determination to do his part for his country, Bucky and his protective friendship, Peggy and her absolute awesomeness. Plus it takes place in the 40s which makes for a beautiful background. TFA cements Steve’s selflessness and sets up Avengers perfectly. I cannot think of a single bad thing about this movie.

Avengers- 9/10 there’s a reason this movie was so popular, it absolutely nailed the concept of a superhero team up. Marvel was smart enough to keep the Avengers from starting out as friends, and bringing them in one by one gave new fans the chance to understand each character even if they hadn’t seen the solo movies. Loki was incredible, and the CGI for the fight scenes was beyond it’s time. The only thing I disliked about Avengers was how grumpy Steve was, although with further review one realizes that this is because Steve just woke up from seventy years in the ice, right after getting rid of the the Tesseract, only to discover that SHIELD had been messing with it, he is understandably pissed.

Iron Man 3- 6/10 I thought that this was a fun movie, it kind of blends together in my mind with Iron Man 2 but is still good. The emotional stakes are much higher and the plot twist was fun. The end with the suits blowing up and the arc reactor being removed felt like a very satisfying ending to Tony Stark’s story ark.

Thor: The Dark World- 8/10 Most people dislike this movie and I just can’t understand. I find Jane’s total helplessness pretty annoying but other than that I see no problem with the movie. The humor is good. (C’mon Ian and Darcy are pure gold) The plot isn’t horrible although Malekith is a little more one-dimensional than some other MCU villains, and I really enjoyed seeing Thor and Loki interact as brothers. Frigga’s death was heartbreaking and didn’t feel forced or fake and the characters had depth.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier- 9/10 ever so very very good. It is very dramatic and intense without being overly heavy. Bucky’s story is heartbreaking with a hint of redemption at the end. Chris Evans does so well playing Steve that you forget that he’s an actor. It’s truly stunning, not to mention Natasha’s acute helpfulness and Sam Wilson’s dry humor and surprising secrets.

Guardians of the Galaxy- 8/10 Covers a lot without feeling crowded at all, a whole new style of Marvel movie but in a very good way. It convinces you to love a group of heroes even though they’re terrible people, lighthearted but still action-packed.

Avengers: Age of Ultron- 7/10 confusing and not that great the first time through, but the more times you watch it the more it makes sense and the more you just love it. There’s so much in there and it’s a shame it had to be packed into so little time because otherwise I’m convinced that AOU would have much better reviews. My main issue with the movie is Brucetasha which felt forced, sexist and unoriginal.

Antman- 10/10 I LOVE THIS MOVIE. It’s sweet, intense and very funny, along with being one of the least inappropriate MCU movies. It’s incredible that Marvel could take a character as absurd as Antman and make such an fantastically good movie. It’s heisty, actiony and comedyy. I just love it

Captain America: Civil War- 7/10 I mainly like this movie, but it just isn’t special to me and there are a couple parts that really bother me. Firstly when Vision, an advanced and analytical computer says that the Sokovia Accords are a good thing, that’s very hard to argue with. Secondly I CANNOT STAND STEVE KISSING SHARON RIGHT AFTER PEGGYS FUNERAL IT IS ABSOLUTELY OUT OF CHARACTER FOR STEVE AND I LIKE TO THINK OUT OF CHARACTER FOR SHARON TOO BUT THEY PUT IT In anyways and who knows why. Anyways I thought that Zemo was a very good villain and the airport scene and later the Siberia scene were very well exicuted.

Doctor Strange- 7/10 He had an origin story ridiculously similar to Tony Stark’s (a cocky but capable, super rich, wise-cracking workaholic with a weird goatee, in love with a red-headed subordinate, learns to be less selfish when a terrible accident befalls him and he has to work harder than he ever has before in his life to solve the problem while on the other side of the world with the help of an old bald mentor of few words, before realizing that there is a great threat with greater but similar powers as them that they must fight and eventually beat through their superior intelligence) but the movie is different enough to still be enjoyable.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2- 6/10 Merely okay. not as good as the original, humor definitely not as good (in general) and the whole family dynamic felt like it was being pushed waaaay too much. I also thought that there were a lot of plot holes

Spider-man: Homecoming- 8/10 It’s really different than the other MCU movies, like a mix between a superhero movie and a teen drama, but not in a bad way, its just different. I LOVE this version of Peter Parker, he seems like the most accurate one we’ve had yet and you just cam’t help but fall in love. He’s funny, smart, cute, moral and brave and feels like the real Peter Parker. Vulture was really well done and was creepy but still understandable, and everyone else was pretty good although I disliked Liz and I don’t really know why.

Thor: Ragnarok 7/10 When I first saw Ragnarok I loved it, Thor had new life and it was funny and fun and action-packed with good music, but with more reflection and a couple more times seeing it I realized that these weren’t the characters I knew from the previous Thor films. Taika Waititi completely disregarded all previous films with Thor and Loki in them to make his own fun version of them, yes the previous versions weren’t that popular, but that gave him no right to completely disregard their previously established characters, he did away with Jane and Lady Sif like they had never existed, and got rid of the Warriors Three as quickly as possible, completely disregarding their previously established strength. Much of the humor was crude and seemed aimed at eleven year olds, the best part was Thor fighting with his newfound power to Immigrant Song.

Black Panther 8.7/10 This film made T’Challa likeable to me and introduced a bunch of new characters really well, I’m really happy that this film did so good representing black people and women both of which are often forgotten in superhero films, as can be seen in previous MCU movies. Of the main four characters, they were all black and three were women. It was amazing, but even ignoring that Black Panther was a really good movie, the filmography was really well done, the plot was intense and exciting and the villain was very relatable.

Infinity War- 9/10 I can’t believe that Marvel Studios was willing to take such a risk with this movie and am surprised that it worked. It was really well done and met all my expectations, I get too emotional talking about this movie especially *sniff* the ending so I’ll say no more

Advantages/disadvantages for audience feedback on social media. How can it influence opinion
Sum up/conclusion

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a fast growing franchise that's gained a huge fanbase over the years. Originally these stories came from comic books written by Stan Lee, A big part of these movies are his funny and witty cameos.
Many people on quora  rate these films at 7 or higher based on a rating out of 10, considering this is a massive film franchise that's quite a good turn out and its seems consistent as well. The average rotten tomato scores have been put in a lovely diagram by someone on reddit which allows us to see what films flopped and which did not.
Through my own research i found that people favoured the more recent phases rather than the earlier phases which shows that the increased budgets created a better viewing experience surely. I also found that people might not have watched all the films but they still understand the stories mostly, which i think shows the success of the franchise.
In my opinion, I think that the optimum viewing experience is to watch all the films and series so that you really understand everything and you get to see all the Easter eggs and cameos. The hidden details in these films are really interesting as it keeps avid fans alert; making them imagine thousands of possible plot twists and storylines.
On social media there can be backlash and opposing opinions which makes it difficult to please every fan. Whilst it is a good idea to lead feedback on these platforms, it could be potentially damaging to the franchise. The Advantages are that there are a lot of fan pages and special places where this franchise is discussed which creates a community within. The disadvantage is that it cant be controlled by marvel which means once there's bad publicity or reviews, it could be harder to rectify problems,
Social Media really influences opinions as people dont like to stray from the normal public viewpoint and therefore if one thing gets said then more people will believe it. In some cases this could be good, in others it could bad.
Overall, the MCU is a massive success and almost manages to top every film. They really know how to attract the audience and keep them engaged.
Like every franchise, marvel has a big competitor- DC. Generally these movies are a lot darker visually with a lot of low key lighting as well as quite dark storylines. Though unlike Marvel, DC release a lot less high high budget movies which dont have continuous storylines that draw people in.
In the future marvel will keep making these massive movies but also more series whicb were shown to be increasingly popular. The interweaved stories grip on to people and make then crave more which increases the demand and popularity as well as success.
